You’re cordially invited to an enchanting afternoon of elegance, and magic at our Psychic Tea Party at Sideshow Gallery on September 19th from 1–3pm! Hosted in our upstairs New Orleans-style gallery, join us for an afternoon that goes well beyond the cup and saucer. A full afternoon high tea is served from an antique silver tea service into your own unique antique tea cup, which you get to bring home as a souvenir of the afternoon.
Jacob Mayfield is your host, and he begins by getting you comfortable with your first cup of tea and presenting the afternoon's menu. Traditional multi-tiered serving trays will overflow with tea-time goodies. (Please contact the store directly if you have any dietary restrictions. We want to work our magic for you.)
As you enjoy those nibbles, Jacob walks you through a brief history of tea and the basics of tasseography, the technical term for tea leaf reading. Jacob then shares the real secrets to reading the leaves at the bottom of your cup. He spills the tea on his professional secrets, which will have you looking into the future whenever you look into a cup. Not only that, but he will personally attend to each guest's cup and interpret what he sees.
While you wait, Jade and Lucas of My Darling Ghost will offer guests a selection of their artisanal teas to sample, with their blends also available for purchase.
Before leaving, all your tea cups have been whisked away and neatly packaged for you to take home as a souvenir of Chicago’s most magical tea party. Don’t tell anyone, but we are also going to raffle off a Sideshow Tea & Tarot themed gift basket with a $75 retail value for one lucky winner!
